Matthew Moore
SCIENTIST #4
(Baritone)

Baritone Matthew Moore makes his LA Opera debut as the Steersman in Tristan und Isolde, returning as Eupolemus/First Messenger in Judas Maccabaeus and the Herald in Otello. A native of Newport News, Virginia, he received his B.M. from Baylor University (Texas), and recently graduated from Boston University's Opera Institute. He has performed with the Columbus Symphony, Naples Philharmonic, Merola Opera Program, Berkshire Opera, L'Orchestra da Camera, Waco Symphony, and Lyric Opera of Waco. This past summer, Mr. Moore had great success as Alidoro in Rossini's La Cenerentola with San Francisco's Merola Opera Program. "Moore used his burnished amber voice and pensive demeanor to telling effect," wrote Steven Winn of the San Francisco Chronicle. Other operatic roles include Marcello in La Bohème, the title role in Don Giovanni, the Count in Marriage of Figaro, Reinaldo Arenas in Before Night Falls, Belaev in A Month in the Country, Belcore in L'Elisir d'Amore, and the Tsar in The Tsar has his Photograph Taken. Mr. Moore was a national semi-finalist of the Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions in 2003, and won first and second place in the Southwest Region of the Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions in 2003 and 2002, respectively.
