Born in Toronto, Denise Cronenberg began her career on stage in the ballet as a dancer. She then moved on to fashion design and, from there, a career in film as costume designer. Her first feature film was The Fly, and she has come full circle with her first opera, The Fly. The feature film The Fly was also the first film she designed with her brother David. Since that time, Denise has done all his films, such as Dead Ringers, Naked Lunch, M. Butterfly, Crash, eXistenZ, Spider, A History of Violence and Eastern Promises. She has also done the costume design for many other feature films, including Moonlight and Valentino, Murder at 1600, The Third Miracle, Bless the Child, Dracula 2000, A Caveman's Valentine, Dawn of the Dead, Dead Silence, Rhinoceros Eyes, Toronto Stories, Shoot 'em up and The Incredible Hulk. Denise has been nominated four times for the Genie Award (the Canadian Oscars) for Best Achievement in Costume Design. She also won a Saturn Award for Best Costume Design.
